活動內容:

來自美國南卡羅來納州的美國查爾斯頓學院師生一行,近日蒞臨本校展開為期近一週的研習交流活動。本次活動由國際處精心規劃,透過語言學習、文化體驗及產業參訪等多元行程,讓來訪師生深入認識臺灣文化、城市風貌與科技發展,並促進臺美青年交流與國際互動。

活動期間首先舉辦始業式,正式揭開本次研習序幕。於語言學習方面,學生參與基礎華語課程,透過生動有趣的教學方式,認識常用中文詞句,並搭配華人文化體驗(特色運動),讓學生在互動與體驗中感受校園文化與人文特色。

文化參訪部分,師生前往國立故宮博物院,欣賞珍貴文物與中華文化藝術之美;並安排九份、十分一日遊,漫步山城街道,體驗放天燈及掏金體驗,並造訪著名的阿妹茶樓,感受臺灣茶文化與山城景致。此外,也安排至新竹參訪工業研究院,深入了解臺灣科技研發及產業創新成果,並前往總統府及中正紀念堂,認識臺灣歷史發展與民主文化。

在美食體驗方面,學生們品嚐鼎泰豐小籠包、排骨炒飯及牛肉麵等經典料理,並體驗火鍋文化,前往養鍋火鍋用餐,透過飲食交流感受臺灣在地生活魅力。

透過此次豐富且多元的研習交流活動,查爾斯頓學院師生不僅增進對華語與臺灣文化的理解,也對臺灣社會、科技產業及城市文化留下深刻印象,進一步深化兩校之間的國際合作與友好情誼。

 

Activity Theme: 2026 College of Charleston Summer Study Abroad Program

Activity Introduction:

A group of faculty members and students from College of Charleston recently visited University of Taipei for a nearly one-week study and cultural study abroad program. Carefully organized by the Office of International Affairs, the program featured a variety of activities including language learning, cultural experiences, and industrial visits, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture, urban life, and technological development while also promoting youth exchange and international interaction between Taiwan and the United States.

The program officially began with an opening ceremony, marking the start of the exchange activities. As part of the language learning component, students participated in introductory Mandarin courses, where they learned commonly used Chinese expressions through lively and interactive teaching methods. In addition, participants joined Chinese cultural experience activities featuring traditional and traditional sports activities, enabling students to experience campus culture and Taiwanese cultural characteristics through hands-on interaction and participation.

For cultural visits, the group visited the National Palace Museum to appreciate precious historical artifacts and the beauty of Chinese art and culture. The itinerary also included a one-day excursion to Jiufen and Shifen, where students explored the mountain town streets, experienced sky lantern releasing and gold panning activities, and visited the famous A-Mei Tea House to experience Taiwanese tea culture and the unique scenery of the mountain village. In addition, the group traveled to Hsinchu to visit the Industrial Technology Research Institute, gaining insights into Taiwan’s technological research, development, and industrial innovation achievements. Visits were also arranged to the Presidential Office Building and the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, where participants learned more about Taiwan’s historical development and democratic culture.

As part of the culinary experience, students enjoyed Taiwanese signature dishes such as Din Tai Fung’s xiaolongbao, fried pork chop rice, and beef noodle soup. They also experienced Taiwan’s hot pot dining culture at Yang Guo Hot Pot, gaining a taste of local daily life and hospitality through food culture exchange.

Through this rich and diverse exchange program, the students and faculty from the College of Charleston not only enhanced their understanding of Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese culture, but also gained a deeper appreciation of Taiwan’s society, technological industries, and urban culture. The program further strengthened the friendship and international partnership between the two institutions.
